Before Dutch company ATI, who develop coffee pods, became Naber Plastic’s customer, they had already worked with manufacturers in Germany and Switzerland. However, those companies had not managed to come to grips with the manufacture of biodegradable coffee pods. Searching for a partner who could control this production process, they eventually ended up at Naber. Just around the corner, back in the Netherlands.
It is not easy to work with biodegradable materials. They are like sugar, which caramelises when heated. If any of the machines break down, they need to be repaired immediately to prevent the material from scorching and sticking to the machine and in the dies. Our Manufacturing Execution System (MES), the central control system to which all our machines are linked, gave ATI faith in this collaboration. Our operators can see all the machinery from a tablet in real-time. If there is a breakdown, they can get there almost at once.
With the customer, we worked out how to optimise the machine’s operation, the automation processes and the dies to bring high-quality products to the market.
Over the years, we have already produced lots of patented product improvements. Those innovations were created by our own product development department, who can achieve great improvements for your packaging too, or shape your own specific wishes.
